C4 Mobility, Croatia
Say yes to empathy
We started our mobility with the official opening in the hall. It was followed by getting to know each other games, a workshop for students held by a psychologist about identifying and modelling emotions, active listening and developing empathy, and a workshop for teachers about mindfulness. After lunch we had presentations about famous sports people followed by kahoot games and the winners were rewarded with chocolates from different countries. The last activity at school was a presentation of the e- book made in Book creator application, named This is how we deal with discrimination, violence and harassment where each country gave examples how they deal with these problems. Finally we went to visit Osijek and enjoyed a long, educational, relaxing walk.
This day started with yoga workshop – yoga for classroom, a simple practice to help relax and focus. The next activity was presentation of cookery books of each country presenting a typical salty and sweet dish. Thirdly, we watched stories about friendship which students created and recorded. The last activity was a workshop – crafting a well of good wishes out of recycled materials. The students also coloured and exchanged good wishes with each other.
Today we had a very special activity for developing empathy. We visited a dog shelter. Pupils collected donations in food. First we learned about the work of the shelter and then we took dogs for a walk. Honestly, we can't say who was happier- the dogs or the students. After the walk we enjoyed a vegan lunch. We donated money and all countries together became a godfather for a dog named Ratko for a year. In Osijek we visited the Archaeological museum.
We started today’s activities with yoga for the classroom. It was a 10-minute activity to warm up our bodies and help focus. Then we practised and learned a choreography. There were simple steps to show all that they can do it even though they might think they are not talented for dancing. The final activity was a workshop called ‘’We all share something in common, we are not alone’’. The task was to come and join a group if a sentence is true for you. In the end, every pupil found themselves in different groups with different people.
The final day of our mobility started with a communication game. Through this activity we learned the importance of not adding new information to the message we received because it can cause us trouble and lead to misunderstanding. Both teachers and students participated and it was very fun and educational. After that we played football or volleyball in international teams. The final activitiy was receiving certificates of attendance which was followed by a lunch. There were tears but we are looking forward to seeing our friends on the next mobility.
