Gift and friendship

C6

MONDAY, 16th May

After the official ceremony at the school hall with all students and teachers, watching presentations about Latvia and Naukšēni, each country was led separately by host students on a tour around the school.

We all enjoyed the ice breaking activity in which, after finding a person for a date for one of the twelve hours, we found ourselves in situations to talk about different topics with different people and got to know our partners a little better.

It was followed by our presentations called “Gift of friendship”- we all gave 3 options on what to give to a friend with little monetary resources and from the heart.

After a little break, we went on with the activities. The next was presenting a cartoon dealing with the topics of our project and playing a kahoot. Then we visited Rūjiena ice -cream factory where we learned how ice cream is made and there we also had ice cream tasting.

Afterwards we visited the border to Estonia and took some great photos. We learned about The Baltic chain and visited the memorial site. On the land between two countries we also learned some dance movements and made a chain by ourselves.

The last trip today was a guided tour in Ķoņi mill where we learned about old mills and production of wool. We enjoyed dinner in Ķoņi mill.

TUESDAY, 17th May

We enjoyed some interesting activities in the morning. Each country presented brain games on the topic of the project. It was followed by practising a Baltic dance. Each country presented their ideas in presentation called How to cheer up your friend with unusual food. Our partners from Northern Macedonia and Poland were also present online.

In the afternoon we visited Valmiera Park of Senses.

WEDNESDAY, 18th May

We spent the whole day in the capital of Latvia. We learned about Riga, visited many sites and took many photos. As a last activity we visited the National Library.

THURSDAY, 19th May

Today we started with workshops for students and teachers. We learned to make bracelets and necklace pendants out of polymer clay, under the guidance of an invited lady. Many discovered their creative side.

Second activity was a video presentation of each country called My friend is sick in quarantine, we can meet only through the window and we all showed 3 ways how we would cheer them up.

Our partners from Poland and North Macedonia joined in virtually.

In the afternoon students participated in collaborative games. We ended the day by attending the School annual reporting concert in the Culture Centre with the Erasmus team participating in a dance we practised the previous days.

FRIDAY, 20th May

We started the day with project evaluation. All participants had to write three comments on Latvia and 3 comments on what they learned during their stay there.

Then we were awarded participation certificates. In the afternoon, we went to Mazsalaca, where we visited a village museum. Our next stop was Nature Park Skanaiskalns. We finished our Latvian adventure with a farewell dinner.
